How the Betting Works:
There will be a personalised Race Programme and guests will be invited to consider placing a bet on any of the 8 horses that they think will win. The setting of the price of the tote tickets is a matter for the organiser but we would recommend that this is £1 minimum. Once guests are ready the Tote will be open and bets will be taken one race at a time to avoid confusion. Once all bets are placed the tote will close and the runners and riders along with their current form will be shown. This gives the audience some idea as to what their chances of success are. At this point we will work out and announce what the winnings on each horse will be, should it be first past the post. This adds to the atmosphere of the evening as guests compete with each other over the wisdom of their choices!
The race is then run and the winners are paid out. We usually recommend that 50% of the complete tote sales are kept for the club or organisation's fund and the remaining 50% is paid out to the winners.
For example:
Race 1
If 100 tickets sold across all the horses this would create a tote of £100.
A 50 / 50 tote means £50 to the organisation and £50 to be divided amongst all the winning punters
If Horse 1 wins and 10 tickets have been sold on Horse 1, £0.00 will be divided amongst the 10 winners and they will each get £5.00.
At this point we will also issue any prizes to the Winning Jockey and Winning Owner.
Once these winners have been paid out the tote will open again for Race 2, and so on....until the final race has been run and all winners paid out.
"Another great night...what more can I say?"
