Maximising the Profit:
Upon receipt of your booking we will furnish you with our Information Pack which will detail all the hints and tips found on this website. This Pack will also include eight forms which we have produced to assist you with the sales of the Sponsorships, Owners and Jockeys. We strongly suggest that these are are sold before the night. We would also strongly recommend that you appoint eight people from your organisation who will each have the responsibility for the sale of the Sponsorships, Owners and Jockeys of one race.
Armed with this form they can approach local businesses, family friends, work colleagues etc and ask them to consider donating a prize, sponsoring the race, or becoming an owner or a jockey. Remember they do not have to attend on the night to be a part of it!
We would suggest the following:
Sponsorship £10.00 minimum
Owner £3.00 minimum
Jockey £2.00 minimum
We will need the completed forms to be handed to our Compere on the evening who will read out the Sponsorship details together with the owners and jockeys.
Sponsors
Sponsorship is suitable for local business, the Sponsor will get a mention on the night, their details will be read out by our Compere and they will be thanked on behalf of your organisation. Remember - Any Sponsorship is classed as pure profit as there is nothing to be paid out of the Tote for Sponsorship.
Owners
There are 8 horses in each race , each of which requires an owner. The owner of the winner horse will receive a prize. This can be a cash prize which would usually be 50% of the total owners sold. However, as already mentioned, the best option is to try and get a prize donated whereby nothing is taken out of the Tote.
Jockeys
Similarly each race requires 8 Jockeys and once again the winning jockey in each race will receive a prize. This can be a cash prize or once again the best option would be to try and get a donated prize and leave the tote in tact.
Some Examples for you:
Example 1
Using our given price example above (with all the Sponsorships, Owners and Jockeys sold and donated prizes the the winning Owners and Jockeys) you would raise:
Sponsorship @ £10.00 x 8 Races = £ 80.00
Owners (£3.00 x 8 horses) x 8 Races =£192.00
Jockeys (£2.00 x 8 horses) x 8 Races =£128.00
Total Raised £400.00*
Example 2
If you were to increase to:
Sponsorship @ £20.00
Owners @ £5.00
Jockeys @ £3.00
(with all the Sponsorships, Owners and Jockeys sold and donated prizes the the winning Owners and Jockeys) you would raise:
Sponsorship @ £20.00 x 8 Races = £160.00
Owners (£5.00 x 8 horses) x 8 Races =£320.00
Jockeys (£3.00 x 8 horses) x 8 Races =£192.00
Total Raised £672.00*
*This would be the before the event even starts! You could then add in any profit from the sale of the horses on the evening.
Please note : Setting the prices for the Sponsorships, Owners and Jockeys is entirely up to you but should be given some thought - you will know your punters best - the idea is to try and raise as much funds as possible without putting people off contributing at all.
